MICROSOFT CERTIFIED EDUCATOR
GOAL is already well known for doing things differently in education. We serve unique students using a unique model, and that means we are in a great position to support students' 21st Century skill development. School staff who practice 21CLD in their work with students are great candidates to become Microsoft Certified Educators (MCE).

Why become an MCE? Here's what Microsoft has to say:

The Microsoft Certified Educator (MCE) certification validates that educators have the global educator technology literacy competencies needed to provide a rich, custom learning experience for students.
MCE certification is ideal for educators-in-training, faculty of teacher training colleges, and in-service educators. Microsoft offers a comprehensive e-learning curriculum, 21CLD, to help educators prepare for this rigorous exam.

Become a Microsoft Certified EducatorÂ
GOAL is now offering the MCE test to staff for free! Each staff member gets one free attempt at the exam-- here's how to make the most of yours.Â
You can find this information and more details on the MCE Preparation Checklist for Test Candidates.
Step 1: Study
To earn an MCE certification, candidates (that's you!) will take a computer-based test called Technology Literacy for Educators. Choose one of the following options to help you prepare for the test:

-
Self-Study: complete at least 6 hours of courses from any of the links on the MCE Study Guide and upload your completion certificates to Vector

-
Group coaching: work in a small group with an instructional coach to prepare for the test. Your coach should document at least 6 hours of instructional coaching time in Vector.
Step 2: Register
You've prepared diligently, and now it's time to show what you know! Fill out the MCE Test Confirmation Form to let us know you're ready to take the test. We'll contact you once you're approved to help you through the next steps.
Step 3: Prepare
You'll be taking the MCE test remotely, so you'll work with us on the following steps to prepare you (and your computer) for the exam:

-
Partnering you with a proctor from our GOAL staff team
-
Scheduling a 90-minute test session on Teams
-
Creating an account on the testing platform, Certiport
-
Installing testing software on your computer

We also recommend notifying your students, teammates, or supervisor that you'll be unavailable during the 90-minute testing window.
Step 4: Test
On test day, your proctor will walk you through the process to sign in and launch your MCE test. The test itself has a time limit of 50 minutes. Once the test is launched, your screen will be locked until you submit the test. Most candidates will see their results posted on Certiport as soon as they submit the test-- however, it can take up to 24 hours for results to appear.

If you pass the exam, be sure to download your certificate from Certiport! You can upload this to Vector to earn an hour of professional learning.
Proctoring the MCE Exam
The proctoring team at GOAL is made up of Academic Coaches, Instructional Technologists, TOSAs, and Teachers who are dedicated to helping their teammates succeed.Â

1. Jamie Trujillo and Lynée Zajac-Beck will approve staff members based on information submitted on the form.
Â
2. Megan Bennett will contact proctors through the Teams channel "Microsoft Proctors". Experienced proctors will be called upon first. Inexperienced proctors must shadow before proctoring on their own. Proctors will rotate to keep the workload manageable.Â
Â
3. Once assigned to work with a staff member or group of staff members, proctors will receive the voucher code(s) from Megan.Â
Â
4. An email will be sent to the staff member with instructions to download the Certiport testing software, create an account, and connect the staff member with a proctor to schedule the exam day and time.Â

5. The proctor will reach out to the staff member to schedule a time to take the exam.Â
